HOW IS IT GROWN?

Step One (Sourcing)

Seed materials are carefully selected from the vast population in the ocean or sourced from locally established farmers.

Step Two (Planting)

Thereafter, they are weaved onto stands of rope with no gaps in between to allow them to regenerate quickly. The lines are then anchored by mangrove stakes which are inserted into the sand in the ocean.

Step Three (Monitor)

Regular checks are being done to ensure that the lines on which the sea moss is grown are still anchored to the stakes and to ensure that they are not entangled with drift seaweeds.

Step Four (Harvest)

When they are ready for harvest, the sea moss is either removed from the ropes completely or pruned to allow them to regenerate for the next season.

Step Five (Cleaning)

Once harvested, the sea moss is cleaned thoroughly to remove silt. Cleaning is done both whilst the sea moss is alive in the seawater and after drying.

Step Six (Drying)

The sea moss is spread on an open surface to be dried out by the sun's natural heat but sheltered from the rain.

Step Seven (Finished Product!)

Once it is dried, it is shaken to eliminate any salt crystals that may have formed on the surface. Then packaged for sale.
